Our first Bodum Special Edition coffee hails from the remote Ka’u district on the south side of Big Island, Hawaii. Historically, this region was renowned for producing some of the world’s finest sugar cane, but when the last plantation closed in 1996, farmers turned their attention to coffee production. The rich fertile soil found on the slopes of Mauna Loa volcano, along with the sunny climate and misty afternoons, are ideal for coffee growing. While initially Ka’u coffee was overshadowed by the neighbouring Kona Coffee Belt, these beans have since stepped into their own, winning numerous speciality coffee awards for their deep flavours and smooth finish.
For this Special Edition coffee, we’ve partnered with Aloha Farms Hawaii, a cooperative dedicated to sustainable coffee practices and ancient Hawaiian traditions. We’re sure you’ll love the nutty sweetness, hints of brown sugar and floral notes in this great coffee.
